 How much does it cost?

All it takes is just $25.00 a month, less than $1.00 a day. Once you have decided to sponsor a child you will receive a picture and a case history of that child in the mail along with a statement for billing purposes. You can select to be billed monthly, quarterly or annually.

 What happens to my money?

Sponsoring a child is an opportunity to improve the life of that child. Your contribution will go to support programs that directly benefit that child, his or her community and his or her family. It might be a well to improve water supplies, materials for the school, providing medical services etc.
If money or expensive gifts were given directly to the child it would cause jealously among the child's peers making life difficult for the child and possibly even dangerous.
Your funds are used in a manner that improves the quality of life, and the ability for that child and their family to become self-sustaining rather than simply a "hand-out".

Do I ever hear from the child I sponsor?

You should receive correspondence from your child at least one time per year. This will consist of a progress report and a current photo. Work in the field is often primitive, and mail services sometimes slow. We can not always predict when you might hear from your child. If you have not heard from your child during the year, please contact our office.

 Can I visit my child?

Yes! Providing the parents and/or guardian of the child consent. Traveling to an impoverished region can be rewarding, and meeting your child and learning to understand the circumstances in which they live will be an experience you will never forget.
It is important that you contact our office at least 4 months prior to a trip so that we can assist you with necessary arrangements.

What about sending my child gifts?

Because of the circumstances of a child's life in an impoverished region for a child to receive a gift of value will make them the target of thieves and jealously. This can actually be very dangerous for the child. We ask that if you wish to make a gift to please send us a financial contribution, and we will have our field staff select something appropriate to provide as a gift.

Simple gifts - food for the family, shoes, small toys, etc., will bring much pleasure to your child, and not create a hardship on either the child or the family.

Gifts of value also pose problems for customs. Sometimes a simple gift here becomes highly expensive when duty must be paid on the receiving end to customs officials. Because of local laws and regulations it is frequently more cost effective to make the gift purchase locally. This can benefit not only the child and their family, but also assist a craftsman in the local community struggling to feed their family.

Can I write to my child?

Yes! Please send your correspondence to our office. Be sure to put your child's sponsorship number on your letter. We will have your letter processed and forwarded to our field staff for delivery. Because mail in an impoverished region is frequently stolen (especially if it suspected that their might be currency in the envelope) or not available, our field staff are the most likely individuals to insure that your letter is received by your child.

Why was I given a new child to sponsor?

Children grow, and needs change. When a child and their family become self sufficient and no longer needs your support you can know that you have made a difference in our world that will last. We assume that when a child leaves the sponsorship program that you as an individual choose to continue with another child. You are under no obligation to continue to sponsor a child, and may discontinue any time. It is our hope, and the hope of the children who need your support that you will continue.

How long may I sponsor a child?

Typically a child leaves the program when they and their family are able to sustain themselves. If you began sponsoring a child when they are very young the child and family may need your support well into their teen years.

You initially make a one year commitment to a child. After the first year, you determine the limit of your commitment. We hope that you will continue to support the child and their family.
